About Boleybawn
Surrounded by rolling green hills and lush landscape we are nestled in the beautiful and pristine Tinahely Village in the 'Garden County of Ireland', Co. Wicklow.
At Boleybawn we have concentrated on breeding, producing, and selling sport horses for over 10 years. Throughout this time we have focused on improving the quality of horses in our yard and this remains our top priority. We are fortunate that the main source of our high quality horses are bred from our own mares and this remains an important focal point
We invest our years of experience and the utmost care into all aspects of our work in order to insure your satisfaction.
We provide a wide variety of horse training facilities here at Boleybawn catering for all weather excercise and care
Sales:
The goal at Boleybawn is to sell suitable horses to our clients and we always stand over them and their description. We put every effort into their preparation in order to give our horses and clients the best opportunity to succeed.
Our honesty and growing reputation for producing successful showjumpers, eventers and racehorses has led to our ever widening client base. The majority of horses we offer for sale are our own however we do offer horses, we feel we can stand over, for sale on behalf of clients.
We often offer flexible rates to clients who send us horses to compete with a view to sell. Boleybawn Horses is also regularly represented at all leading Irish and British auctions and we take pride in excellent turnout and attention to every detail.
Producing Sport horses:
Producing sporthorses is a thing of pride at Boleybawn as we want to do our horses justice and give their future owners every chance of success. We regularly compete at S.J.I affilated shows, Eventing Ireland one day events and Future Event Horse competitions.
Our training method is a sympathic but intensive one that suits novice horses, working with their individual temperament yet improving at a rate that remains commercial. We like to turn our horses out for short periods during the day as much as possible and change their daily excercise regime frequently to keep them enthusiastic and broaden their education.
The horses are loose jumped with tack in our indoor arena as they are being broken so when the time comes to jump under saddle they have some knowledge of what they do. They most important cog in the process is the staff that work with the horses which is a small, select, dedicated team with great experience of young horses.
We are delighted to take in horses to produce for clients and offer the very keenest rates always
Point to Pointers/Pre-training:
Training point-to-pointers has become a strong interest at Boleybawn. Currently we are fortunate that we can boast a high rate of winners to runners. We have up to date facilities for training point-to-pointers as well as good knowledge and understanding.
At Boleybawn we realise the importance of investing time in jumping all our horses in training and we recognise how crucial it is to keep them interested and enthusiastic. Good preparation is the key and if a horse jumps fifteen fences well combined with peak fitness and health they have a definite of doing themselves justice at the races. We have enjoyed success with the horses below from a limited number of runners;
Boleybawn Quikstar (3 wins & 3 places) Fairwood Bob(2 wins & 7 places) Rockers Field(1 win & 1 place)Bold Cent(1 win & 2 places)True Illusion(1 win)Fairwood Massini(1 win)Boleybawn Sonnet (1 2nd place)Boleybawn Envy and Boleybawn Envy(1 3rd place)
We are excited about the preliminary success we have had and we are enthusiastic about the future growth and development of training point-to-pointers to success. Pre-training racehorses has always been a large part of the yard at Boleybawn and the success of Divine Rhapsody in the 2010 Goffs Land Rover at Punchestown made us particularly proud as he was broken, pre-trained and sold from Boleybawn. This was his first run and he netted €60,000 in the process.
Above, True Illusion powering her way home from the last to win her maiden on her second start at Tyrella & Bold Cent stretches out winning her maiden at Loughamore. I was particularly proud of this win as it was her 19th run, only her 5th while we had her in training. She finished 5th,4th,3rd,5th,2nd and then won while in training at Boleybawn, breaking her maiden at the age of 7 having been racing since 4 years old.
